I am an artist based in a small village south of Barcelona, working primarily in drawing, painting, and printmaking. Originally from the UK, I spent many years in London working across art, advertising, and architecture before moving to Spain. With my partner, we established an architectural practice, which we ran for several years.

More recently, we have created an art and ceramics studio where we now dedicate ourselves full time to our own creative work.

My work follows two distinct yet connected paths. On one side, I create abstract works that explore minimal forms and structural relationships, seeking to strip away description until only presence remains. On the other, I am drawn to figurative portraiture, focusing on women who are too often invisible in our culture.

Thinking about the way that phases of womanhood have been imagined through history from the pre-Christian triple goddess of “Maiden, Mother and Crone” to the “Maiden, Mother and Matriarch” archetypes of Jung’s psychology, my view is that our culture worships predominantly the “maiden”, neglecting the value and status of the mother or matriarch. This represents a loss of depth and variety in representations of the feminine.

My focus is not on the idealised beauty of the maiden, but on real women captured in their everyday existence. I want not only to give recognition to those who hold the threads of our daily lives together, but also to show they challenge conventional ideas of beauty through the authenticity of simply “Being Human.”
